15,000 Teachers’ Recruitment Cancelled Major Verdict by Karnataka HC In a significant verdict, the Karnataka High Court has cancelled the recruitment of 15,000 school teachers. The state government had originally issued a notification for the recruitment of 15,000 GPSTR teachers for the 2021-22 academic year, but confusion arose regarding the allocation and reservation of posts for the Kalyana Karnataka (local) and rest of Karnataka (non-local) cadres under Article 371(J) of the Constitution. A circular issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) on February 1, 2023, further added to this confusion, prompting candidates to approach the court to challenge the selection list released under those rules. Consequently, the Kalaburagi bench of the High Court quashed the old selection lists for 6th to 8th-grade graduate primary teachers (GPSTR) in the Kalyana Karnataka region and issued a clear directive to the School Education Department to consider eligible candidates as per the rules and complete a fresh selection process within the next three months. |
